This page generates an interactive virtual ouija / ouiji / quija / weja board, also known as a talking or channelling board, which according to popular belief, facilitates communication with spirits. Unlike most examples of online talking boards, it records and displays the text spelled out by the motion of the pointer or planchette, without the operator having to click the mouse. The proportions of the board are set according to current screen resolution. In addition to on-screen operation, a printable layout is selectable, allowing instant creation of a physical board!

Main Points of Operation
-
Display. If available, fullscreen mode is recommended, usually F11. You may configure the board to default to a fullscreen-proportioned layout.
- Planchette. This is purely aesthetic and non-essential.
- Characters. When the pointer makes contact with a character or
word, its background shows blue. However, for a character to be recorded, the
pointer must come almost to rest over it, whereupon its background shows red.
- Text. The following selectable criteria, determine the insertion of word spaces in recorded text:
- With the pointer clear of any character or word, no character is
recorded for a few seconds. This timing is influenced by the recent average
speed of the pointer.
- When the pointer is not over any character, it stops for more than 1
second.
- While these functions may help to organise the recorded text, perfect
word-separation cannot be expected.
- Text Edit & Review. The session text can be viewed and edited by clicking All Text. This mode remains active until the board records another character. The most recent 100 text characters are stored in a cookie.
- Printing. To generate a printed version of the board, either click on Print! or append to the URL the parameter: ?print, then reload.
- Origin There are countless sites claiming that the word 'ouija' is derived from joining the French and German words for 'yes', which I consider to be groundless, unsubstantiated cobblers. Many Hispanic users search for this site using the word 'quija', which I suspect to be derived from the Spanish word 'quijada' meaning jaw. Jaw > Jawing > Talking. You heard it here first.

Print Layout Help
You have selected the printable
layout, which you should optimise using your browser's Print Preview
facility.
Under Setup, select 'Landscape' and disable printing of header and footer text.
If the content is re-sizeable, make it as large as possible,
using appropriate margin settings both to centre the image and eliminate
clipping. Current Mozilla browsers are well suited to this task.
If the
layout cannot be made to fit the paper size, try a different screen
resolution.
When satisfied with the layout, just print the page in the normal way.
